If you are looking to build a .308 AR rifle for hunting or long-range shooting, the Aero Precision 18″ .308 Stainless Steel M5 Complete Upper Assembly is an excellent option.

Chambered in .308, this upper assembly is capable at decently long ranges and has enough energy for big game hunting. Therefore, it features an 18″ barrel, which gives your rifle a decent range while keeping it compact as well. The barrel is made from 416R Stainless Steel and has a 1:10 twist rifling. In addition, it comes equipped with an A2-style flash hider, which can be replaced with any other muzzle device using the 5/8″-24 thread pitch.

This upper assembly comes equipped with a modern slim profile M-LOK handguard. The 15-Inch ATLAS handguard has M-LOK slots at 3,6, and 9 o’clock, with a Picatinny rail on top to mount front iron sights. The gas system has a low profile to work with the slim profile handguard and uses a Rifle Length gas tube.

The receiver on this upper has a DPMS High Profile, which fits seamlessly with the handguard. It has a port door and a forward assist as well. The receiver is made from 7075-T6 Aluminum and has a Class 2 hard coat anodized finish for durability and longevity.
