If you’re building a .308 AR, the M5 Complete Upper Assembly from Aero Precision for .308 is a perfect option. This upper assembly contains a high-quality CMV barrel, a modern M-LOK handguard, a low-profile gas system, a DPMS style upper receiver, and a bolt carrier and charging handle.
High-Quality Components
Starting with the barrel, this upper assembly comes with an 18-inch barrel made from CMV (Chrome Moly Vanadium) steel. This super-strong, highly heat resistant, and corrosion-resistant steel is also used for Mil-Spec rifles. The barrel has a QPQ finish for increased strength and has 1:10 twist rifling. The barrel is threaded and comes equipped with a VG6 Gamma 762 Muzzle Brake, which is pre-drilled for pinning and welding.
The ATLAS R-ONE M-LOK Handguard that comes with this upper assembly is made from lightweight and durable aluminum and has M-LOK slots on the sides and the bottom, with a full-length Picatinny rail on top. The gas system is also low profile to work with the handguard and uses a rifle-length gas tube.
The receiver itself is made from 7075-T6 Aluminum and has a DPMS high profile. It also features a post door and a forward assist. This upper assembly is designed to be reliable, and hence the receiver has M4 feed ramps as well, which help in more reliable feeding of ammunition.
The Upper assembly comes with the Aero Precision Black Nitride .308 Bolt Carrier Group and an ambidextrous charging handle.
